National Gay Blood Drive In Tulsa Friday

Posted: Updated:

For the first time in Tulsa, the National Gay Blood Drive will be held. It is a blood drive held in many cities across the country that has the dual purpose collecting blood during the typically slow summer months, as well as raising awareness that gay and bisexual men are banned from donating blood and plasma.

Gay men are recruiting friends and family to donate blood for them.

In addition to donating blood, donors and visitors are asked to sign a petition to lift the federal ban.

The Oklahoma Blood Institute will be at the Dennis R. Neill Equality Center between 2 PM and 7 PM on Friday July 11. The Dennis R. Neill Equality Center is located downtown at Kenosha and East 4th street.
