Man Dead in Tulsa after Vehicle Rams Power Pole

Posted: Updated:

A male in his mid-50s is dead after his vehicle struck a power pole near Pine and Mingo shortly before 11 a.m. today.

Tulsa police said the victim was the only occupant in the car and there was just one car involved in the collision, which involved the vehicle veering off the roadway and striking a power pole. Police sergeant Tom Bell said it does not appear there was sort of foul play in the accident, but the investigation is ongoing.

Pine Street in the area is closed temporarily and Highway 169 is closed at Mingo. The Public Service Company of Oklahoma is on scene of the accident replacing the transmission pole that was struck by the vehicle. The accident did not cause any power outages. A PSO spokesperson said crews will be out this afternoon replacing the pole.

The victim was pronounced dead on scene will be identified once police have notified the family of the deceased.
