Sand Springs Selects New City Manager

Posted: Updated:

The Sand Springs City Council has chosen a new city manager.

More than 40 people from around the country applied for the job, and the city council interviewed seven finalists.

Elizabeth Gray is originally from Shawnee and is the current city manager of Altus. That city has a population of about 20,000 people.

She previously held a management position for Matanuska-Sustina Borough in Alaska.

"I am absolutely delighted and honored to be selected as the next City Manager of Sand Springs," Gray says. "Sand Springs is a great community that appears to possess excellent economic development opportunities. The staff is highly experienced and willing to serve our City," Gray says. "Sand Springs has a strong sense of community and I am really looking forward to serving the citizens of Sand Springs."

"With over 20 years of public service experience, Elizabeth will complement our remarkable team of City employees," says Sand Springs Mayor Mike Burdge. "My colleagues on City Council and I look forward to her leadership as she works with the Council and the entire City organization to continue to make Sand Springs a great place to live, work and play."
