Muskogee Man Attacked by Two Pit Bulls Shares His Story

Posted: Updated:

A man nearly mauled to death by two pit bulls is out of the hospital, but still recovering. The July attack happened in Muskogee. On Monday the victim spoke exclusively to Channel 8's Yaremi Farinas.

"Sometimes I am on the porch and I glance that way and I have thoughts of what happened," Boulet said.

On July 14, 2014 Boulet saw his neighbor's pit bull jump a fence and nearly attack a little boy.

"He was going after the kid so that's when I rushed up and I told the kid run up on the porch," Boulet said.

The dog lunged at Boulet and seconds later a second pit bull escaped from the gated yard.

"That's when I caught him by the throat and we were tussling and he started saying crying because I was putting a grip on him," Boulet said.

At one point Boulet slipped and fell and the dogs took advantage of him.

"When I slipped and I had my arms like this here and I looked up and that's when the bog dog he came in and he snapped right here," Boulet said.

The struggle lasted about 10 to 15 minutes. He tried reaching for his knife, but the dogs continued to bite him. Boulet kept fighting. He believes that's one reason he is still alive today.

"Not only fighting back but my son and my neighbor was able to come and hit on those dogs," Boulet said.

His injuries were so severe, he spent a month in a hospital and has undergone several surgeries.

"He had to have surgery to put the food pump into his stomach because he couldn't eat or drink with his mouth," said Debra Boulet.

While it's hard to accept what happened to him, Boulet believes he was at the right place at the right time.

"Lord knows what happened and he blessed me for saving that kid's life because I was sitting on the porch for some reason," Boulet said.

Boulet still has scars on his legs, arms stomach and face. He said he will need plastic surgery to repair his facial wounds.

According to the Muskogee County District Attorney's Office, they have the case, but as of right now there are no charges filed.
