The Spiro High School principal and athletic director was taken into custody late Monday night for driving under the influence.
According to the probable cause affidavit, 51-year-old Tracy Saling was seen by a Poteau police officer driving erratically.
When the officer pulled Saling over, he observed a strong odor of alcohol and had slurred speech. Saling reportedly told the officer he had a "a little to drink." An open container was found in the passenger floor board by the arresting officer.
During the arrest, Saling told the officer he had a loaded .40 caliber pistol in the vehicle.
The superintendent for Spiro schools told Tulsa's Channel 8 that the issue had been brought to their attention, but could not comment further.
Saling was taken into custody for driving under the influence, transporting an open container and possession of a loaded firearm while intoxicated.
