Jazznet Showcase, a Washington, DC based program provider is set to debut original Jazz programming on its website in 2015.
August 29, 2014 /MM-prReach/ —
Jazznet Showcase started as a TV pilot in the early 90′s and had a short run on cable TV outlets. The producers had a difficult time promoting and distributing the series. However, now with the internet it is not only easier to produce content but programming can be seen and distributed worldwide.
For its initial launch, Jazznet Showcase will present a pay per view concert by The Washington Renaissance Orchestra, an all star “Big Band” which features Drummer and Artistic Director Nasar Abadey, Musical Director Allyn Johnson, and a Special Guest Vocalist Navasha Daya. The concert was recorded at the historic Lincoln Theatre in Washington DC and got rave reviews.
Nasar Abadey, who also wrote and performed the theme song for the original Jazznet Showcase says “Things come full circle. I’m looking forward to a new opportunity to Bring Jazz to the world.”
According to Jazznet Showcase Co- Founder Art Cobb, “Jazz is America’s music, but it has taken a back seat in this country, yet is soaring in places like Europe, Japan, and Brazil. There has been a lack of outlets for new Jazz content on television. Except for an occasional documentary or concert on Public TV, Jazz is hard to find. But that is about to change.”
The Jazznet Showcase programming will include live as well as recorded concerts, interviews with featured Jazz Artists and the latest Jazz videos. Some of the content will be free and some will be pay per view.
